You actually have a fake hardware raid ( see
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/FakeRaidHowto for more information ).  You need
to install grub to the raid array ( /dev/mapper/isw_dfjhdgcedg_Volume1 )
rather than an individual disk ( /dev/sda ), or stop using the fake raid
if you don't need to dual boot with Windows.  This is recommended as
fakeraid is not well supported in linux.  To do this, go into the bios
utility and delete the raid array, then use the 12.04 alternate
installer to install Ubuntu and setup a software raid.
