How about instead fixing the script hack from the other bug to use
something more standard like:

grep -q /dev/pts /proc/mounts && exit 0

Bug description:
  Since bug #933903 was fixed we need "mountpoint" in the initramfs.
  Please add it to busybox and busybox-static

  It is missing as of busybox-static 1.20.0-8.1ubuntu
