  no notification altough updates are reported by tty login

Status in “update-notifier” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I never saw any notification since I installed the 14.04 version.

  When I log into a tty console, I get the below message :
  ---
  25 packages can be updated.
  24 are security updates.
  ---

  Why there isn't any notification into the desktop environment ?
