Title:
ubuntu-release-upgrader doesn't depend on python-apport
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
In Progress
Status in “update-manager” source package in Saucy:
Triaged
Bug description:
Test Case:
1) run python /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/DistUpgrade/DistUpgradeApport.py (we are using python here because the release upgrader runs with python2 not 3)
2) notice a failed to import apport python module error message
With the package from -proposed you should receive a "Crash report"
dialog saying that 'do-release-upgrade has stopped unexpectedly'. Do
not submit the crash report.
This is because ubuntu-release-upgrader doesn't depend on python-
apport and it is no longer depended on by anything else. I mean that
package used to be installl on most Ubuntu systems because apport or
ubuntuone-client depended on it.
