This error message shows that you have the 12.04 version of grub2-common
installed on your system, which is incompatible with the 12.10 version
of shim-signed.  You will need to upgrade the grub2-common package on
your system to version 2.00-7ubuntu11 or later.

This was addressed for trusty in bug #1259558.  since Ubuntu 12.10 will
reach end of life within a few days, I don't believe we will make any
further changes to 12.10 for this bug.

Bug description:
  I tried getting the fcitx input method to work on my system. 
  After many attempts, I finally got it working by running update manager. 

  After a restart, however, the launcher and menu bar went missing.

  I opened the terminal and tried to install CCSM and reset Unity but to
  no avail. (ccsm failed to install. )

  I then used to sudo apt-get -f install command and a bug report was
  launched.
