Title:
Power isn't turned off
Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: grub2
A few days ago I did a fresh install of Karmic. A few days after there was a error and I had to shutdown the system manually (with the shutdown button).
Since then, it has been impossible to power off the pc without turning the power source of. I never had this problem before. I reinstalled Hardy and then upgraded to Intrepid, then Jaunty, hoping that it would set things right. It didn't.
I have a dual boot with Windows XP which isn't shutting down completely either since then. I also tried with a live CD : same problem. The shutdown button has the same effect.
Is it possible that the the installation of grub2, and then the manual shutdown has changed something permanently in the BIOS ?
Is there a way to set the system back so that it will indeed power off ?
I'm not even sure the problem comes from Grub, but I don't see what else
