Public bug reported:

After selecting a partition to install to the installer spent some time
downloading packages and then crashed.

I was able to pick my timezone and the installer was showing me tips
about Ubuntu. Not sure exactly what state the progress bar was in when
the crash occured.

This is a new PC with Windows 8. I created a partition from windows for
the install and booted from a USB drive. I disabled UEFI in the BIOS and
disabled fastboot too.

The disk is two 256gb ssds which are striped and shown as a ssingle
500gb drive. This was the factory setup and I'm not sure of all the
details but can find any that are important.
