------- Comment From thorsten.diehl at de.ibm.com 2016-04-06 09:47 EDT-------
It seems like the zfcp device is not detected, thus zfcp module is not loaded and installer skips the zfcp configuration section.
When I loaded the zfcp module manually during installer startup, it did not fall into disk detection menu, but came up with zfcp configuration menu.

When fixing this, please consider the following three cases:
1.) DASD(s) available, at least one configured
2.) DASD(s) available, but none configured
3.) no DASD available
in all three above cases the s390-zfcp installer module should be run, if at least one zfcp device is available.

Title:
Installer is not handling zfcp (scsi) devices automatically

Status in debian-installer package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:

Senario: no DASD devices, just two CHPIDs with FCP disks (two each, configured with NPIV) provided via parmfile.

The installer finds no storage devices and prompts for drivers?!
Choosing 'go back', I can select a sub-menu to detect and enable FCP devices.

Now... why did the installer not prompt me to enable FCP devices in
  the first place?

Attaching screenshots with the installer menus.

  This is for installer 432
