[Bug 1607817] Re: grub-install: error: cannot find EFI directory: package shim-signed 1.18~16.04.1+0.8-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Upon closer examination, your report shows that the system *does*
support UEFI: 'efibootmgr' returns a complete list of UEFI boot entries.
But grub-install reports that it can't find the EFI directory, even
though it had just used the same code to install grub-efi-amd64-signed
moments before:

Setting up grub-efi-amd64 (2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.1) ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/kernel/postrm.d/zz-update-grub ...

Setting up grub-efi-amd64-signed (1.66.1+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.1) ...
[...]
Setting up shim-signed (1.18~16.04.1+0.8-0ubuntu2) ...
Installing for x86_64-efi platform.
grub-install: error: cannot find EFI directory.
dpkg: error processing package shim-signed (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Can you show the output of 'mount' on this system, and a directory
listing of /boot/efi?
