Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

Title:
Installation of Ubuntu Mate 17.04 crashed due to EFI problems in Grub
Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Today, my Ubuntu 17.04 Laptop didn't start because it couldn't
anything to boot (it still worked like charm yesterday). I tried to
use boot-repair from a Live-USB-Stick with Ubuntu 17.04. Boot-repair
said something about missing EFI-stuff and wanted to write it to the
beginning of the disk. Because I didn't know whether that was the
place of my /home-partition, I instead tried to reinstall Ubuntu
leaving my /home-partition as is and just formatting the /boot- and
/-partition. Installation asked my, whether I wanted to continue in
EFI-Mode possibly giving away the possibility to boot into existing
BIOS-installation (which don't work anyway at the moment). I said yes
and after installing for a while the installation process stopped
telling me again, that the EFI-stuff didn't work properly.
