sdc2 is in fact, not an EFI system partition. You have no ESP.

** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
  Installer crashed at bootloader installation.

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  The disk that I would be installing too is /dev/sdc. The partitions
  are laid out where sdc5 is the root partition and sdc2[?] is the EFI
  partition. I'm also dual booting with a Windows install and running
  the installer in EFI mode.
