After reading your logs, I'm not sure at all what's going on here, but
it appears as though you have both Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu Studio desktop
metapackages installed, which can definitely put your system into a
broken state. Basically, what you have on your hands is a broken system
from this, which means it's not a software or packaging bug. I recommend
seeking support from askubuntu.com, irc.ubuntu.com, or the ubuntu
forums. As support is inappropriate for a bug tracker, I'm closing this
bug as invalid.
