Screen did not terminate for me and I saw the following:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'dbus'

You could check /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log and see if you have the
same error message but I'm going to assume you are and mark this as a
duplicate of another bug which is currently being fixed.

Bug description:
  When running do-release-upgrade in 20.04 chroot it fails without any
  error/reason returning back to shell:

  # do-release-upgrade -d
