Also did a test with a fresh Kubuntu 24.04 iso on an usb thumb drive to
exclude failure by the the existing installation (system is getting
upgraded since 18.10).

Same as before. 
System starts up and freezes after some initial user activity. 
Often already during language selection.

  New

Bug description:
  Upgrading my Thinkpad T510 from Kubuntu 23.10 to 24.10 worked fine but the system freezes after some minmal activity with the kernel 6.8.0-36-generic.
  No chance to check any log files or check for other issues. System freezes completly.

  Booting with advanced options and choosing the old 23.20 kernel
  (version 6.5.0-28-generic) works perfectly fine.
