[Bug 2074024] [NEW] dist-upgrade did not work

Public bug reported:

I tried a release upgrade, and it didn't work. I disabled the PPAs as
requested (minetest, inkscape, libreoffice, and yt-dlp), but it still
didn't work. I tried to make sense of the log, but removing fontconfig-
config seemed to be more of a problem than a solution, so I reported
this as requested in the error message.
