  Upgrade to plucky results in missing (box) characters

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I upgraded to Plucky from Oracular on release day, before upgrades
  were disabled, and have encountered missing/box characters in the
  terminal view of the boot/shutdown screens since then.

  I have included a screenshot of the issue.
