Now, there are regional settings for french keyboard in Ubiquity. But by default, French-French (legacy, alt) keyboard is selected. French-French (AZERTY) should be better. You can write ²¤ to test it.

Title:
In live-session, keyboard mapping does not match the chosen language [
FR ] [ impish ]
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Hi,
Impish is on a ventoy USB thumb ( Budgie flavor ).
Live session boots fine, offering choice between « try » and « install
».
I chose my language ( french ) and click « try ».
The live session reads in French BUT the keyboard is QWERTY where I
expected AZERTY.
Actually French ( France ) and their matching regional settings are
missing in gnome-language-selector.
Once you installed your language from there, set it first in the list
and apply regional settings for whole system, then after logout /
login, the key mapping is finally correct.
Not very friendly ;-)
But to be honest, not new : I already had that surprise in previous trials with Xubuntu, Budgie, 18.04 and 20.04.
And this does not happen on « official » Ubuntu version - where AZERTY
mapping is set out of the box when French has been chosen.
