The bad news is that even utmpdump is dumped from the next release. In
mitigation, there will be fewer things writing to the utmp-formatted
logs and lastb would probably be more or less useless for that reason
now, but that still leaves no solution for interrogating old logs.

util-linux (2.40.2-12) unstable; urgency=medium
* Stop building utmpdump, should not be necessary on wtmpdb systems
* Stop marking mkfds-socketpair test as failing
* Skip tmpfs-sensitive tests if fstype cannot be determined
* Amend NEWS entry to hint updating /root/.profile (Closes: #1088009)

Title:
last and lastb missing in 24.10
Status in util-linux package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
The last and lastb commands have disappeared from util-linux at 24.10!
This is odd, as the binaries from 24.04 actually run on 24.10, so the
data is clearly still being collected and in the same format.
Ubuntu: 24.10 (Oracular Oriole).
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.40.2-1ubuntu1
