Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
review all reported bugs in a timely manner.

Ubiquity is now unmaintained as it has been replaced by either the
Ubuntu Desktop Installer or Calamares starting with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
Therefore, this bug is being closed as 'Invalid'.

If you believe this was done in error, please feel free to re-open the
bug report.

Title:
Unable to install 'nvidia-driver-440' due to conflicts.

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

The Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop Live CD installer crashes when trying to
install. Installing without updates succeeds, but results in a broken
install (no ethernet, or dkms for some reason).

  How the error occurred:
   - Run Live CD (normal graphics mode)
   - Run installer
   - Select "Minimal install" and "install third-party software"
   - Set up partition table (2GB EFI partition, rest of disk Ubuntu)
   - Installer crashes at last stage

  Expected behaviour: Installer doesn't crash
  Actual behaviour: Installer crashes.

Note, I have installed ubuntu 20.04 on this system before, so I have
no idea why the installer would crash here.

EDIT: Problem appears to be caused by nvidia-driver-440 package.
Installing with 21.10 (which defaults to nvidia-driver-470) appeared
  to fix the problem.
