You were right. `set root=(hd0,gpt1)` works.

But this seems like a hack. Is this normal?
The default $root is (memdisk). However, whenever I try to boot chainloader from another disk's EFI, I need to configure $root.

Bug description:
  The command chainloader /efi/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi fails due to the PE image.
  The error log says: “error: malformed EFI Device Path node has length=0.”
