I was able to replicate Rich Lewis's error with plucky, although with
resolute, that particular error doesn't even display, with instead this
short error appearing just before GRUB launches:

error: file /boot/ not found

I also took this video with set debug=all, if it helps:

** Attachment added: "debug=all logs for GRUB"

Title:
Add support for Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3

Status in ubuntu-concept:
  New

Bug description:
Hardware: Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 15Q8X10
  MO: PF9XB5416161
  MTM: 83N30009US
Factory ID (Never know what you might need...): JVHFC1
  Module: QCNCM865
  Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260A
  RAM: 16gb (LPDDR5)
  SSD: Micron (2230)

  ISO Tested: oracular-desktop-arm64+x1e
  Secure Boot: Disabled
  Boot Order: USB-preferred

Initial boot met with conflict due to secure boot, though disabled,
the UEFI had set it to 'Setup', rather than 'Disabled'. This was
corrected with resetting factory keys, and then re-disabling Secure
  Boot.

Second boot proceeded to GRUB, noting that my device was not yet
supported. A button was pushed, to proceed, but the screen hung
there. After consulting another Lenovo ticket, and noting similar
issues, I attempted the fixes, and workarounds, but was not able to
proceed past the hung screen, with the cursor in the top-left.
  Nothing further.
