This is getting unbearable. It's worse than I initially though.  
 
Couple days ago I went back (for various reasons) to the standard (2.6.10-5-386) kernel from my custom 2.6.10 with the 
patch I have already added to this report.  
 
Further testing with transfers as small as 100MB on three different laptops and one stationary machine reveals that all 
systems become unusable (ksoftirqd is going nuts on the CPU + see former comments from me) and must be rebooted. This even 
happens when I limit (scp -l) xfer speed to roughly 120KB. 
 
Please - when time allows it - review the attached patch and consider applying. I can only image that *anybody* who's using 
the current orinoco driver and doing big file transfers will have their systems DOS'ed.
