What do you mean by "force DMA on too early" ? The kernel is definitely waiting
for the bus to quit it's busy state before trying to re-enable DMA, but yah,
some optical drives have showed several times in the past that they tend to crap
all over the bus when powered up, so we might need some additional delay or
magic in there....

However, since it only happens with dbus, I suspect something a bit more subtle.
Like some of the ide-cd commands triggered by dbus ioctl are "bypassing" maybe
the queue locking mecanism I use or something like that ... It might just be the
ioctl spinning for ever as the command is present but not processed, not sure. I
can't reproduce on my laptop unfortunately...

I would need some more debugging to see what happens in the IDE layer, more
specifically in the ioctl handler for the command issued by dbus and in the
ide-io.c request processing.
