------- Additional Comments From f5inet at gmail.com 2005-06-28 09:22 UTC -------
the asic integrated in the controller seen to be only a bios-pass to enable a
class of semi-hardware-raid. reading the documentation is clear that this board
make only the scsi 'glue' logic, this is: emulates a scsi device from 2 ide hard
drives. the driver 'mounts' above the bios to make the magic. all calculations
are asigned to main CPU, the hardware are only responsible of a dual pci ide
controler. all the hard work is left to the driver and main CPU.
at this point, and after few test, i discover that native software raid0 in
linux is FASTER that this awful propietary driver from promise...

tsk-tsk...

my vote for close the bug, i prefer full-soft-raid instead of a 'scsi-layer'
from promise...
