I have the exact same problem with the Toshiba 5015 S701 touchpad.
Kernel panic if I touch the cPad at any time (even during boot-time).
The problem exists with the repo images 2.6.15-13, 2.6.15-14, 2.6.15-15
and 2.6.15-16. I compiled my own kernel 2.6.15.2 and I had no problem,
so it is something to do with the way ubuntu has build the kernel I
think.
