Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6-686-smp

I'm using ibm thinkpad t60 with core duo.

I have this strange problem, sort of funny I guess.
When I use smp kernel and usb keyboard, if I press down and hold a key, the repeat is not smooth. What i mean is the computer does not take the repeat evenly. so for example I try to navigate in the text editor by pressing the arrow key, the cursor would move a certain distance and then stuck (just for a very short time) and then move again and stuck. so it's pretty annoying.
However this does not happen when I switch to 386 kernel (non smp). And more strange is that if I play mp3 (using rhythmbox player) the problem disappear in the smp kernel.
This problem does not appear if I use the laptop keyboard.

It seems that when I have 2 processors idle they all fight to process my
keyboard repeat and in doing this it creates that unsmooth repeat. If
one of them is busy doing something then they don't fight and I get
smooth result. really funny, they just need to learn work together I
guess :)

** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
