Just installed the latest release of Dapper (kernel: 2.6.15-23-386) on
my Dell Inspiron 8600.  Noticed just a few minutes ago that the master
vol. control didn't affect the headphone volume.  Luckily I found this
site and was able to correct the problem using the steps above (passing
ac97_quirk=hp_only).  Thanks.
