Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-23-686
Under breezy, my rt2500 wireless adapter worked (nearly) perfectly.
Under dapper, the same set up no longer works. The wireless adapter
cannot obtain an IP address from either a WEP enabled router or a
security-free router. It does seem to be trying, though, as the network
monitor indicates actiity on ra0.
Searching the fora and the bug database, and trying the suggestions
therein, did not work, including:
- Downloading and compiling a newer version of the rt2500 module from
source forge (though this did get rid of the 'Driver using old
/proc/net/wireless support, please fix driver!' message noted in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=191393&page=2)
- Adding acpi=noirq to the boot parameters (this had no effect) (as
suggested in bug 48263)
- Adding irqpoll to the boot parameters (this caused my machine to hang
at "Starting Hardware abstraction layer hald...") (as suggested in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=187316&page=2)
I will attach the relevent parts of /var/log/syslog that Network Manager
outputs whenever I try to connect to my wireless router, along with
dmesg.
** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Untriaged
Status: Unconfirmed
** Attachment added: "/var/log/syslog output when attempting to start ra0"
