[Bug 4817] very jumpy mouse after hours of being idle

Description:
After leaving ubuntu sitting for a long while my mouse becomes very
jumpy.  I have noticed a similar jerkiness in response with the keyboard
at the same time.  It doesn't happen until almost a day of idleness
passes.  That is, just having the screensaver come on is not enough to
trigger the problem.

I have tried logging out and hitting Ctrl+Alt+Bksp at the GDM prompt,
but the problem persists.  I have been rebooting to get around the
problem.  I have not yet tried unplugging and replugging my USB keyboard
and mouse.  In fact, my mouse is plugged in to a usb hub that is built
in to my keyboard.  The next time this problem surfaces I will try that
and add a comment to this bug.

I'm not entirely sure that this is an xorg problem.  It may be a kernel
problem.  I have not seen this problem on other distributions and I did
not see it with Hoary.
