I was running breezy when this occurred.  I haven't been running ubuntu
exactly because this bug made it hard to do so.  I booted in to my
ubuntu system for the first timein a few weeks to see if I could
reproduce this bug.  This installation is the exact same one that caused
all of the problems I sited above.  I updated the software to the newest
stuff from breezy and let my machine sit idle.  After sitting overnight
it showed no problems.  I let it sit idle all day while I was at work
and when I got back there were no problems again.  I know that what I
experienced was a very real thing and I didn't imagine it.  But, if no
one else is seeing it and I'm not seeing it anymore, I would suggest
just closing this bug.
