I have the same problem on a system I built. It uses an Asus board
(P5DG2 Premium) and 2.8ghz Pentium 4 520 Processor Prescott 2.8GHz,
800MHz FSB, Socket 775, 1MB Cache. The funny thing is DSL, DSL-N,
Knoppix and PC-BSD all shutdown fine. I have loaded these various
systems on different hard-drives or partitions of my present drive. I
tried Xubuntu and it shutdowns fine but Kubuntu won't shutdown either.
I tried both version 6.06 and 6.06.1. Either of those versions of
Ubuntu shutdown two older AMD systems fine. On the P5DG2 it gets all
the way to "System will now halt" and hangs. Hope somebody finds a
solution as this version of Ubuntu is really growning on me.
