[Bug 373273] [NEW] HARDY -- Pidgin uses 100% CPU, cannot be killed with kill -9

Public bug reported:

This is a Ubuntu Hardy machine. Pidgin, after running for a while, goes
in an infinite loop and uses 100% CPU. While in this state, it cannot be
killed with kill -9 and cannot be straced (strace attaches, but reports
nothing).
