I just upgraded my June 2009 MacBook Pro from Karmic to Lucid. I'm
still experiencing this annoying problem, though now it seems to have
gotten better to a point where it gives me hope that someone may be able
to fix it.
When my hands hover near the touchpad while typing, sometimes the mouse
pointer will start sliding spontaneously to the right until it activates
another window and bad things happen™ as my typing goes to the wrong
place.
The "Disable touchpad while typing" used not to work for me, but now it
works most of the time and this usually stops the slide. There are
still exceptions though, causing painful interruptions to my work. I've
had this accidentally "edit" source code that I was working on in the
past; typing "u" or "dd" into a vim window without noticing can cause
some real damage.
