Just installed 2.6.31-20-generic #58-Ubuntu and my ID 12d1:1001 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E620 USB Modem stopped working. Everything was working fine with 9.04. An old htc TyTN II USB connected saves my life until a fix is available.
Same on 2 computers: Compaq Evo N800c and hp EliteBook 8530w which perform extremely well with Ubuntu. The Vodafone Mobile connect application from Betavine is able to send and receive SMS but is not able to connect. The diagnostics from this program shows all the details from the USB Modem and Provider.
