Upgraded from Karmic several weeks ago. Had normal upgrade related issues.
Periodically updated packages with dselect.
Starting last night will not boot.
Stops fairly early either during or right after running udev. with no disk activity.
So much of the boot process has been changed I am not even sure how to
try to debug/isolate - though am trying.
Have booted from another install, and verified that the disk is fine. Can chroot into it and work inside the chroot.
Tried dropping an older kernel, initrd, ... onto the disk and editing grub.conf to boot that - still same problem.
I would be happy just for clues to help isolate and fix this.
System is an hp dv-8333 laptop.
