I got what appeared to be a successful install on a Gateway mx6028 with
a factory new samasung 160gb drive. When the 1st very large update
completed the system hung on reboot after displaying several Ubuntu
screens (lite weight logo) no error messages or anything else.. Have
been through the sequence several times,, went to 9.1 and could not get
a successful install apparently due to the disk size and a grub issue,,
(don't really know but that was what was pointed to in IRC.. that person
indicated that Lucid had better handling of this issue and indeed I did
get the initial boot and at least one subsequently one prior to the big
auto update..after another re-install I get a bunch of errors on shut
down [1450.006041] end_request:I/O error, dev sr0, sector 498506
followed by a large group of other "similar " errors...
The grub folks pointed to the need for the "ata" option on the earlier
releases...
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
