I tried lucid-desktop-i386.iso<http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/lucid-desktop-i386.iso>but
unfortunately my (AMD athlon XP) only booted as far as:

[ 0.244419] [<c0104087>] kernel_thread_helper 0x7/0x10 and then froze

so I couldn't test the wlan.

Not much more I can do,
