Using a fresh install of lucid beta1 (i386), closing the laptop lid on
an old Dell Latitude X300 will completely freeze up the system. The
freeze appears to be fairly instant. The fan does not shut down and none
of the leds change. When re-opening the lid, there's a black screen with
only the mouse-pointer showing. Keyboard and mouse movements has no
effects.
The fault does not appear to be gnome-power-manager, setting it to only
blank the screen when lid is closed has no effect. Furthermore, hitting
the suspend key on the keyboard will put the computer to sleep just
fine, and it will wake up just fine as well. Choosing sleep from the
menu in the top-right corner also works as expected.
This leads me to believe the fault is in either acpi or the kernel, or
maybe devicekit(?) though I don't know how to debug this further.
I'm not seeing any log messages around the time I closed the lid.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
