Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, tested with both stokc 2.6.32-21-generic kernel and
2.6.34-020634rc6-generic kernel

Kingston SSDNow V+ 64GB ssd on Asus EEEPC 1005p

Read performance way too low vs. raw disk performance

root at danb-eeepc:/home/danb# hdparm -t /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing buffered disk reads:  210 MB in  3.01 seconds =  69.87 MB/sec
root at danb-eeepc:/home/danb# hdparm -t --direct /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing O_DIRECT disk reads:  412 MB in  3.01 seconds = 136.82 MB/sec
root at danb-eeepc:/home/danb# hdparm -t --direct /dev/sda
