root at ubuntu:/home/ubuntu# hdparm -t /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing buffered disk reads: 416 MB in 3.01 seconds = 138.37 MB/sec
root at ubuntu:/home/ubuntu# hdparm -t --direct /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing O_DIRECT disk reads: 616 MB in 3.01 seconds = 204.74 MB/sec
