Debugging Kernel Boot question

I was reviewing the Debugging Kernel Boot wiki page[1] and noticed that
removing the quiet and splash boot options were no longer sufficient for
me to see messages about the boot process.  I also had to remove the
vt.handoff=7 parameter.  My question is what other releases will have
that parameter so it can be properly documented.
