The X folk would likely have a better handle on how far this support has
gotten.  What I do know is that coping with switching GPUs on the fly is
something upstream is still working on as it forces a completely new
internal structure for the X server to allow it work.  This is totally
non-trivial and was expected to take up to 18m to get sorted out.

I would suggest starting out on the #ubuntu-x channel on freenode as the
relevant people hang out there.
