Since this report is concerned with multiple separate issues, all of which are believed to be fixed in 1.91 release of adept, i am closing this bug. Please see the last comment in #31824 as well for detailed explanation of the issues.

The original problem with adept freezing when hitting details on installed package was related to the adept freezing on startup/not starting up in some cases. Both were caused by the application/octet-stream described above and in the referenced bug report.
