SmartCraft,

This is probably caused by cancelling the earlier update. In this case
adept does not release it's lock on the package database correctly. This
is something that adept should handle more gracefully than it does
currently and it is being looked at. In the meantime, in case you are
still stuck with this you should be able to release the lock by running
the command.

sudo dpkg --configure -a
