Compiling drivers

Not managed to run the config yet, but I notice I am advised to:
	Step 4. Edit your /etc/modules.conf or conf.modules depending on the
	distribution          (Please refer to the attached modules.conf)

Now I looked, I cannot find either /etc/modules.conf or conf.modules on my 
Kubuntu install.

a locate modules |grep conf did not bring any useful information.

Where the hell is modules.conf or conf.modules ?
