Anatomy of a kernel:
linux-image-2.6.15-27-amd64-k8
linux-image == linux kernel
2.6.15 == major, minor, minor version
-27 == build
-amd64 == architecture (for mine, amd64)
-k8 == processor (AMD K8, which is Athlon64, Athlon64 FX)
You'll want one which has the smp option, which is for multiple
processors or multiple cores.
If you can't find a amd64-k8 smp, then go for a generic i386 with smp
support.
