What kernel to install for AMD Core 2

Thanks for your answer, it has claryfied things. I have been looking for
different kernels which i could install, but the only one i found
(through synaptic or console) is linux-image.2.6.15-27-k7, without
"amd64". Is the one i found a 32 bit kernel (i386)?
