Thanks, Dotan, for reminding me about this. You are absolutely right -
it is better to correct KDE 4 instead of only sticking to KDE 3, which
is going to be obsolete sooner or later.
For you, Dexter: you could consider maintaining one partition with a
KDE 3 distro, while experimenting with a fresh install of 9.04 with
KDE 4 at a 2nd partition and sharing your findings with Dotan and
other users. This will help you to enable yourself to check which
advantageous features of KD3 you are missing in KDE 4.
Another thing you need to take into account: some features of KDE 3
are not really missing in KDE 4, but have a different name or even a
different appearance. I give you some examples.
The PDF reader and editor 'Okular' is KPDF in KDE 3 plus some extra
functionalities.
The icon of the 'show the desktop' widget in KDE 4 looks a bit
different from the same widget in KDE 3.
In KDE 3, I preferred to manage my folders and files via Konqueror.
But in KDE 4 Dolphin has taken over this function in my case - the
good features I liked about Konqueror in KDE 3, have been taken over
by a fundamentally renewed version of Dolphin in KDE 4.

I hope this reflection is useful for you.

Respectfully yours,

Bas.
