Well Derek, even if you don't like it, but I am, together with
Jonathan Riddell and Clay Weber, an administrator and moderator on
this list, which has clear guidelines. Also, this is *not* your list,
you are a subscriber here like everybody else, if there is an owner
here it is the people who started the Kubuntu Community and those who
are part of it, and these people did appoint the three of us to
moderate it.

Derek, if you don't like what I do, this is your opinion, but the
guidelines and the Code of Conduct clearly state what is acceptable
and what is not. Off Topic about non Kubuntu related subjects is as
prohibited here as are rudeness and insulting people, which you
clearly seem to have forgotten here.

I didn't close this thread but asked the participants to send their
contribution to Dotan by PM, and Dotan agreed with me on this
procedure. There are 1200+ readers on this list of which most are
lurkers, but imagine they all send their participation to this list!
The searchable archive will become totally unusable since you will not
be able anymore to search for a particular application name and then
wade through the hundreds of replies to this thread before finding an
eventual useful thread with a solution.
This is the sole reason I think this thread is not appropriate, and it
would have been great if Dotan had thought of asking people to send
him their contributions by PM instead of sending those to the list.

Bear with me, what we moderators try to do is to keep this list
healthy and useful as a support list for Kubuntu users.

I might happen to be the one that answers often and more often closes
a thread than others, but this is not me censuring, the decisions are
always taken after discussion with the two other moderators. FYI, we
do this by mail with a copy to kubuntu-users-owner at lists.ubuntu.com so
we have archives about the decisions, and we do sometimes discuss this
in the #kubuntu-devel channel on IRC which is an archived developer
channel, as are all Ubuntu channels.

And, BTW, there seems to be a climate of fear in this channel, since
more often than not we get complaints in PM about off topic
discussions and congratulations when we take measures. I just wonder
why people are afraid to speak up... I am not and will do so on behalf
of those who are afraid to, since that is my role.

FYI, this list has had many moderators in the past and was, at least
for some time, left almost abandoned and grew out of hand (and OT).
Many of those moderators have left because they gave up on a mailing
list with supposedly grown contributors who behave worse than a group
of kids in Kindergarten. Users scaring moderators away who try to do
this in their spare time because they are convinced that the Kubuntu
community is worth the effort... something is wrong somewhere.

Again, please, lets keep this mailing list a true technical support
channel as it is meant to be. No users should be afraid to speak up
when it grows out of hands and if the guidelines are not respected.

Regards, Myriam
