Hi Steve,
thanks for answering but I believe I have the settings as you mention

The identities on this computer are :
Perry(by default) Perry<pwhite at bluewin.ch> or
Sxxx Sxxx<sxxxyyy at bluewin.ch> (...or the gmail stuff)

There is no such field in the advanced tab, but in the General tab I have as
user name pwhite at bluewin.ch or sxxxyyy at bluewin.ch or ...

I guess the correlation is because the electronic address in the identities
match the user name in the receiving account

same thing goes for the sending account.
I can take any identities for sending or receiving and it works as expected in
most cases, for example :
replying to your mail would write in the "to" field either
kubuntu-users at lists.ubuntu.com or
Kubuntu user technical support <kubuntu-users at lists.ubuntu.com>,
depending on whether I use"reply in diffusion list" or just "reply" and I can
also "reply to Author" and have your address written in the "to" field
I made a variation on the experiment I described on Wednesday,
I sent a mail using my wife's account to my gmail address, fetched it and used
"reply" on it, the *odd* result was my gmail address in the "to" field. Using
"reply to author" correctly wrote my wife's address. (In both cases my
identity was automatically set as the gmail user, which seems logical.)
I must conclude that on using "reply" Kmail mixes up the original sender
address with that associated to the identity of the person who replies, but
only if those are both configured in Kmail, and to me it looks as a bug.
Did I miss anything you can spot ?
Greetings Perry
P.S. Steve, I did try to answer earlier, the above text was sent Friday but
it didn't appear in my ubuntu mail. I am sending it again from my "sent
messages" using "re-expedite" (translated from french, may not be the exact
wording)
